the science

Talk nerdy to me...

Rhodiola rosea

Rhodiola has been traditionally used to support how the body adapts to physical and mental stress, in part by interacting with systems involved in cortisol signaling and the stress response. Clinical and experimental research has explored its effects on fatigue, perceived exertion, and cognitive performance under stress, with particular attention to how it supports mitochondrial function and cellular energy processes. In real life, this often shows up as energy that feels more durable and available ~ the ability to stay engaged, focused, and present when demand is high, without the sharp spikes or crashes associated with stimulants.

Schisandra chinensis

Schisandra has a long history of use for supporting endurance, coordination, and overall physiological balance, especially during prolonged effort. Clinical research has examined its effects on stress adaptation, physical performance, and neuromuscular coordination, including observed support for balance and stability in demanding conditions. Rather than creating stimulation, schisandra is associated with smoother, more regulated energy ~ the kind that supports consistency, resilience, and ease across long days and varied environments.

Synergy

Long Rhode is built on adaptive synergy, not stimulation.

Rhodiola supports how the body responds to stress ~ helping regulate cortisol and improve how energy is produced and used, especially under mental or physical demand. Rather than pushing you, it supports stamina, clarity, and resilience over time.

Schisandra works more system-wide. Its lignans are studied for their role in cellular defense and balance, and in traditional use it’s considered a harmonizer ~ supporting multiple systems to work together more efficiently.

Together, these plants create energy that feels steady, spacious, and sustainable.

No spike. No crash. No forcing.

This is why Long Rhode often feels less like caffeine and more like capacity ~ the ability to stay present and engaged whether you’re deep in work, moving your body, or simply living your life.

For this long road we call life~

Common curiosities

FAQ

What does it feel like?

Long Rhode is meant to take the edge off while supporting focus and stamina.

Some people say it feels like "breathwork in a bottle" or "liquid sunshine."

Everybody is different, so effects vary.

How do I use them?

Our tinctures are meant to be part of your routine – whether you're getting through the day, winding down, tuning in, or connecting with others.

You can:

  • Mix into your favorite mocktail or one of our recipes
  • Add to a drink like sparkling water, tea, cacao, juice or a smoothie
  • Drop directly on your tongue for quicker effects

Start with 1–2 dropperfuls and listen to your body.

I'm sober. Can I use this?

That's a very personal question only you can answer. What we can say is that our tinctures were crafted with the sober community in mind:

They don’t contain alcohol in an intoxicating amount (just enough as a natural preservative and extraction method) and they’re non-psychoactive, meaning they won’t get you high, drunk, or alter your consciousness.

Our drops are designed to help you feel more like yourself, not less. We have several customers in recovery who use our products as a tool for connection and relaxation.

However, if alcohol-based extracts are a trigger for you, then no, these drops are not a good fit.

Are there any dangers?

Every plant we use is legal and well-researched in the US.

Please review individual cautions below:

Long Rhode (rhodiola + schisandra)

  • Use caution if prone to mania or bipolar symptoms. Rhodiola can be overstimulating for some.

Most of the herbs we use (except schisandra) are generally not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding, however we believe a mother knows best and several BF mamas use our blends.

Can I use more than one blend in a day?

Absolutely. You can always layer blends throughout the day.

For example: Ecstatic in the morning, Long Rhode throughout the day, and Altared and/or Lucid in the evening.

Just start slow, listen to your body, and see what works for you.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects or adverse reactions to these plants are mild and rare but could include:

Rhodiola: dizziness, headache, insomnia, and gastrointestinal upset.

Schisandra: allergic skin reactions or other problems, including lower appetite, stomach pain, heartburn, or acid indigestion.

Our blends are made with well-studied herbs. That said, if you're pregnant, nursing, on medication, or have a medical condition check with your healthcare provider.
