Landscapes & legends
Journey to the origin and tradition of the plants we use in our blends.
Kava
Rooted in Pacific tradition, Kava has been consumed ceremonially by natives on the islands of Polynesia for over 3,000 years. The complex preparation is a sacred ritual symbolizing peace and hospitality. Legend holds Kava was a gift from the gods. Kava is quickly spreading as an alternative to alcohol in Australia, Europe and North America. It is cherished for its support of healthy relaxation, grounding sensations, and connecting properties, making it a wonderful ally for socializing or unwinding
Kanna
Kanna is a succulent originating from South Africa. Kanna has been used by the Khoikhoi people in ceremonies to connect with ancestral spirits. Legend speaks of Kanna's ability to "open the heart," inviting calm and emotional warmth. It was traditionally utilized to uplift the spirit and support concentration during long journeys.
Damiana
Another desert treasure, Damiana is a shrub with yellow flower and fragrant leaves. Native to Central and South America, commonly found in the desert. For centuries, Natives have praised this plant for supporting emotional balance and romantic vitality. The ancient Mayans prized it as a powerful ceremonial aid and a "lovers elixir." Today, research shows a wide range of benefits attributed to this desert dame.
Blue Lotus
Native to the Nile river, this divine water lily has been revered since the time of the Pharaohs. Blue Lotus was a powerful symbol in Ancient Egypt. Due to its natural cycle of blooming at sunrise and closing at sunset, made it the symbol of the sun, creation, and rebirth. It was believed to provide spiritual connection and was associated with the god of healing and beauty. This ethereal bloom is cherished for its traditional use in promoting healthy relaxation and a sense of tranquility.
Rhodiola
Native to the high mountain regions of China, Russia and North America, Rhodiola has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for supporting steady energy and mental focus. Viking warriors used the root before battles to enhance strength, and Siberian folklore tied it to a long life. This prized adaptogen has been traditionally valued for supporting steady energy and mental focus, helping maintain resilience and vitality against the elements.
Schisandra
Native to the wild, mountainous regions of China and the Russian Far East, Schisandra is known as the "Five-Flavor Fruit" as it contains all five classical tastes (sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and pungent). Ancient texts revered it as a superior herbal medicine that would "prolong the years of life without aging." Siberian hunters also valued the berries as a tonic to increase endurance and stave off exhaustion during long expeditions. Today, this renowned adaptogen is traditionally used to support overall stamina, vitality, and resilience.

Common curiosities
FAQ
What does it feel like?
Everybody is different, so effects vary. But in general, some are stimulating: boosting your energy and mood, while others are relaxing: promoting calm and wellbeing.
I'm sober. Can I use these?
That's a very personal question only you can answer. We can say that our tinctures were crafted with the sober community in mind.
They don’t contain alcohol in an intoxicating amount (just enough as a natural preservative and extraction method) and they’re non-psychoactive, meaning they won’t get you high, drunk, or alter your consciousness.
Our drops are designed to help you feel more like yourself, not less. We have several customers in recovery who use our products as a tool for connection and relaxation.
However, if alcohol-based extracts are a trigger for you, then no, these drops are not a good fit.
Are these legal? / Are there any dangers?
Every plant we use is legal and well-researched in the US.
Please review individual cautions below:
Altared (kava + damiana)
- Avoid if taking sedatives, depressants, or alcohol. May cause drowsiness.
Ecstatic (kanna + damiana)
- Do not combine with SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, or other antidepressants. May interact with serotonin pathways.
Long Rhode (rhodiola + schisandra)
- Use caution if prone to mania or bipolar symptoms. Rhodiola can be overstimulating for some.
Lucid (blue lotus)
- Avoid combining with other sedatives. Mildly calming and relaxing.
Most of the herbs we use (except schisandra) are generally not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding, however we believe a mother knows best and several BF mamas use our blends.
